Yard waste dumpster
Yard waste is on the accepted list. Dirt is on the prohibited list. Those two sentences are the whole decision for a landscaping project.
Brush versus soil
Branches, shrubs, leaves, and fence boards that come out with a yard cleanup can go in the 15-yard. Soil, gravel, river rock, bricks, and concrete cannot. Sod that is mostly dirt is dirt. If you are regrading or pulling a lawn, this is the wrong container. Call before you book.
Brush is bulky and lighter than dirt, until it is wet and packed. Keep it level with the rim. The estimate of 7 to 8 pickup loads assumes a level load. A heaped pile of limbs is how a load gets refused or billed for extra weight.
Where this comes up
Kuna acreage, Eagle foothill lots, and Boise yard projects are the usual brush jobs. The city pages cover the driveway. The material rule does not change with the city.
What can go in
In the bin
Household junk
Furniture, mattresses, and a garage or basement cleanout.
Appliances
A washer, dryer, or dishwasher is $25 each. Refrigerators and TVs stay out.
Construction debris
Wood, drywall, cabinets, and other job-site junk.
Yard waste
Branches, shrubs, and fence boards. Soil stays out.
Leave these out
No dirt, concrete or brick
Too heavy for this 15-yard. A dirt or flatwork job needs a different plan.
No batteries, paint, or chemicals
They contaminate the load and the landfill refuses them.
No tires
Landfills will not take them in a mixed load — tire shops recycle them.
No TVs or refrigerators
Screens and refrigerant units need special disposal and cannot ride in the bin.
No hazardous waste
When in doubt about a material, call before you load it.
